Back from Fall Break and Ready to Roll (Well… Almost!)

Whew! Fall break was exactly what my teacher soul needed — a chance to rest, recharge, and finally get caught up on all the sleep, shows, and snacks I’ve been missing since August. There’s something magical about waking up after the sun and not hearing an alarm or the words “Do we have to write this down?”
But as refreshed as I feel, walking back into the classroom this week reminded me that my students’ minds are still on break! The energy is low, the chatter is high, and let’s just say the word “focus” seems to have disappeared from everyone’s vocabulary. 😅
So, this week has been all about restarting routines, resetting expectations, and finding creative ways to reignite that academic spark. I’m easing us back in with interactive reviews, brain breaks, and just enough structure to remind them that yes — school is still in session!
Even with the slow start, I’m determined to kick off the second nine weeks with a bang. The goal: balance grace with accountability. Because truthfully, we’re all readjusting — students, teachers, and caffeine levels alike!
Here’s to new lessons, fresh goals, and reminding ourselves that growth doesn’t happen overnight — it happens in the showing up, day after day, even when the pumpkin spice energy fades. 🍂
How are your students adjusting after break? Drop a comment below — I’d love to hear what’s working for you!
